Ride at Theme Park

Project Overview

Paramount Coatings faced a unique challenge with one of the most popular rides in Florida—Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando. The task was to develop and apply a full flooring system that could be installed during the park's closed hours and be ready for foot traffic the next morning, all while maintaining the ride’s original design intent.

Objectives

The primary goal of the project was to recreate the original aesthetic of the flooring while ensuring durability. The solution had to match the original color palette, maintain the themed look, and withstand heavy daily use by thousands of park visitors.

Challenges

Paramount Coatings encountered several key challenges on this project:

1. Tight Deadlines: With strict overnight application windows, Paramount had to ensure that all work was completed before the park reopened in the morning.

2. Application Techniques: New techniques were required to meet the strict time constraints while preserving the ride's themed design elements.

Innovative Solutions

Paramount Coatings developed a fast-drying overlay system capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic within hours of application. Custom water-based stain colors were also created to perfectly match the original color palette, ensuring a seamless integration with the existing design..

Materials Utilized

• Epoxy 100 Clear: Used as a primer to prepare the surface for the overlay.

• ParaRoll with Custom Pigment: Custom-matched pigments to replicate the original colors.

• ParaStain: Provided the necessary color and depth to the design.

• ParaSeal-19: Applied as a final protective seal to enhance durability.

Project Timeline

The project was completed over two consecutive nights. Paramount Coatings had to work within a tight window to ensure the ride was operational for park visitors the next morning.

For the execution of this project, Paramount Coatings partnered with Roy Miller Painting, led by Project Manager Tony House. Tony and his team successfully managed the project, ensuring timely completion and flawless execution..
